Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.

"#3 pencils and quadrille pads."
- Seymoure Cray (1925-1996) when asked what CAD tools he used to design the Cray I supercomputer; he also recommended using the back side of the pages so that the grid lines were not so dominant.

"Interesting - I use a Mac to help me design the next Cray."
- Seymoure Cray (1925-1996) when he was told that Apple Inc. had recently bought a Cray supercomputer to help them design the next Mac.

Stoneburg, its nice how you cut a definition from Dictionary.com but before you paste it here, you edited it to serve your purpose.

The actual dictionary.com definition of racism is here:

1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

I bolded the part that you knowingly left out.

I dont believe any race is superior to any other.
I dont believe any race has the right to rule another
I dont have any hatred or intolerance of any other race.

The hard part would be in the choosing. Maybe elimination rounds or something?

The Caucasian and African American races do in fact have many differences that can be measuered scientifically, so once again, you are wrong.

Saying they are different isnt racist, saying one is superior than the other is. Read the definition that you alluded to.

I'm cautious about touching this subject with a 10-foot pole ... but will try.

Okay. Ice is saying that the racial discrimination issue has become too politically correct. In an effort to equalize the power imbalance in society ... we have turned a collective blind eye to even simply saying that certain cultures and races of humans have differences. Simply noting that there are differences (skin colour is only a difference) has become a taboo. There are clear and measurable socio-economic differences between groups.

This would be akin to noting that there are differences in gender ... or differences (in general) between gays and straights. All of these things are differences ... noting them is not racist in and of itself ... these differences can be marvelled at ... not just used as an excuse for bigotry. When bigotry does enter the picture ... we have a problem.

Stating that there are differences, has become akin to saying that we are inequal which is not the case. This is largely due to the fact that, historically, certain groups have done monstrous things to other groups.

At the very least we could agree that different cultures have different attributes, without trying to say that there is superiority or inferiority involved. Pok7 mentioned the French. I think we could all nod in agreement that we shouldn't rely on them in a war situation.

I believe that our WASP culture would benefit greatly by integrating many of cultural aspects from the rest of the world. In general we are too stiff, out of touch with ourselves, and do not have a deep-rooted sense of ancestry and honour to those who came before us. These elements are present more widely in other cultures.

WIth all of that being said ... it is a sensitive issue for many people ... and for good reason. All groups (including whites) have been the target of bigotry and hate. Evil is indiscrimate against who it discriminates against. It can come from any source and target any victim.

The idea that we should be "tolerant" of other groups is ridiculous. There's nothing to be tolerant about. We are all the same in the big picture. "Grouping" people is only a thought experiment to try and point out an observation of tendencies.
