Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

It doesn't even come CLOSE to mean that he thinks online players are BETTER..it just means that there are different SKILL SETS. For example: it's easier to click your stack away since you just push a button, but live you have to physically move chips that generally more represent 'real' money to players. Also, it's easier to get distracted online, IMO, because it's in your home and people surf the net, watch t.v., have S/O's or kids bothering them, etc. That's not to say there aren't distractions in a casino, but a good player may have an easier time live focusing, than online.

But what seems to be really driving dan's comment is he relies SO heavily on reading players and their tells, which is almost utterly absent online...so since that's not there, he considers himself greatly handicapped. It's not to say he couldn't learn to play well online and crush online tough competition, he's just saying that he doesn't - ATM - have the skill set for online high limit play.

first, dn got clobbered by patrik antonius in hu lhe, so that's a large part of his losses (from what i can tell). other than than, i agree with what bk6 said (esp. the second parapragh with regards to dn).

ultimately i think dn will adapt because i think many (most?) of the big game pros -- esp. the ones coming up now -- will prefer online multitable high stakes action to "the big game" unless they can expect some tourists or donators when playing live.

also, i think the amount of losses online by dn is dwarfed by his losses on the golf course (lolololol), and that overall these online losses are (or were) a relatively trivial part of his BR. he doesn't seem to have taken online poker very seriously (except antonius), so i personally don't think that this is representative of his best effort.

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.
