I was in the BB with
and about 6 of us saw the flop w/pot about $20.
and I checked.
MP bet $25, Btn called $25.
I had been running bad all day and was down $300 over all and I got excited. I decided to check raise to $100 with the nut straight and see if I could take the pot.
The first player re-raised, the BTN called and I pushed the rest of my chips - I had $340 preflop. The Btn called.
MP -
BTN -
The turn was
- Btn got his flush.
The River was
- MP got his full house.
I did a $100 re-buy.
After the hand was over I was discussing my play with my neighbor (Bob). We concluded that I should have just check called the flop bet and if a blank hit the Turn then push all in. If the MP called me with his set of Tens I was 75% ahead.
Since we now know that the turn was not a blank I would have saved a bunch of chips. Hindsight is 20/20.
Any comments on which is the better play. I could have bet out on the flop and the MP player was sure to raise me. I could then re-raise all in and see if he called.
Poker stove has the odds for me 40% and each of them 30% on the flop. If a blank hit the Turn I would be a 61% favorite to win.
