This was a bad read by me which lead to a bad play.
I was MP with a very marginal hand
and called a $12 raise from the BB after I limped. I know that this is ill advised but my question is not the wisdom or lack thereof preflop but my flop play.
The flop was
and the BB lead out with a $50 bet into a $60 pot. The struck me as a hand like
rather than
. I have played with this player sever times and know him pretty well. I played a flopped flush vs. my set with him one time before. I have at least 25 hours of play againt him. He had been up most of the night and been drinking beer. But, he is still a force to be reckoned with.
In any event. I had $160 since I had just sat down and he had about $600 or so.
I had two pair and I am sure he did not have the flush but there was a good chance he had the
.
If he had
and
then I was ahead. If he had the
then it was a coin toss pretty much.
If he had a set or a flush I was in big trouble.
I went with my 2 reads and pushed my $160 into the $110 pot. He said later that he though I had the flush but he figured he had outs. - He of course, called.
Now, please tell me how bad this was
I played 3 hands poorly and this is one of them - one other screw up was the Queen Nine. The third was I flopped a set of 5's and did not get full value from it.
His hand is in white below.
He had Ace Eight for two pair and won the pot.
