Good point. If you bet this on the flop, there is just the one hand that beats you and you can go all the way with it immediately. On this particular hand, you're sure to see a raise from either 22 or KK on the flop, so you can push and get called and take down a huge pot.

General rule I just learned: Slowplaying a LOW set is especially dangerous because pretty much any turn card will be higher than yours and therefore a scare card if you see serious action. You have to take 99 into consideration on the turn, where on the flop that's not a hand you're scared of. I had never thought of that.

Great hand for anaylsis....sorry it didn't work out for you though.

I think it's agreed that if you had 99 instead of 44...there is no way you can fold this?? guys??

Yeah if i would have had 99 i call and take my chances, but it was my fault for not betting the flop and getting a better idea of where i was.

Thanks for the input guys

I was thinking leading the flop would have fixed this pickle with all the money in the pot on the flop and definitely the turn.

I'm unsure if folding is the correct play, you slowplayed in order to achieve this kind of result, and then bam you get the desired result, might as well play it out. That is the only reason I can think of checking anyways.

I normally do lead all of my sets, but i did not on this particular one.
I did want to get the money in, but the problem was that the only hand that i could think that somebody could have raised preflop then ck on the flop and then call all in on the turn was QQ in my opinion so that is why i folded.
