I recall watching an experienced NL player at The Bike play a hand similiar to this. The button raised and this good player re-raised out of the blind with QQ. The button called and the flop was something like 2 5 7 with 2 spades. Good player bet the pot on the flop and was called. Turn was a non-spade ace and the good player fired out another large pot-sized bet with just QQ. The button was visibly shaken by this bet and assumed the good player had an ace and folded (i dont know what he had). I said to the the good player, "AK?", he showed QQ and said, "What kind of hand can he have that would have an Ace in it after calling my flop bet?"
You should not be scared of a turned Ace when you are the pre-flop raiser and have an underpair. You opponent is equally scared of it and you should lead at the pot again. I would fold here if raised but I would expect my opponent to fold 75% of the time after I bet. If he calls I would check the river and play from there. In a raised and re-raised pot the range of hands of your opponent is probably 99-QQ, AK or AQ. your hand is ahead of 4 out of 6 of these hands so I think it is fair to assume your opponent dosent have an ace. If you know anything about your player you need to take into account his "craziness" factor. Is he nutty enough to be taking a card off for a pot-sized bet just to hit an overcard?
