BTP Cash game hand

Postby briachek » Sun Apr 24, 2005 8:33 pm

To set up the real hand I have a question on, you need to see this hand that happened earlier.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (6 handed)

Hero ($104.7)
CO ($49)
Button ($351.4)
SB ($45.7)
BB ($54.4)
UTG ($77.15)

Preflop: Hero is MP with [7c], [Ac].
1 fold, Hero raises to $3, 2 folds, SB calls $2.50, BB calls $2.

Flop: ($9) [2c], [Tc], [9c] (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $4, SB folds, BB calls $4.

Turn: ($17) [5s] (2 players)
BB bets $10, Hero calls $10.

River: ($37) [8s] (2 players)
BB bets $25, Hero raises to $70, BB calls $12.40 (All-In).

Final Pot: $144.40

Results in white below:
Hero has 7c Ac (flush, ace high).
BB has Js Qh (straight, queen high).
Outcome: Hero wins $144.40.

This table is 6 handed and it seems this player has stolen some small pots but since he's from BTP, he's a good player. :)

I had been doing well raising my suited connectors. I believe I have a tight image.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (6 handed)

Hero ($128.55)
CO ($65.57)
Button ($346.35)
SB ($37)
BB ($157.05)
UTG ($119.55)

Preflop: Hero is MP with [7d], [9d].
1 fold, Hero raises to $3, 3 folds, BB calls $2.

Flop: ($6.50) [9h], [8h], [6c] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $5, BB calls $5.

Turn: ($16.50) [5h] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $15, BB raises to $45, Hero calls $30.

River: ($106.50) [4c] (2 players)
BB bets $76, Hero ?????

I wasn't convinced he had the flush because of the previous hand but he might have the same straight with a heart so I decided to call and see the river first. The river changed nothing. The bet on the river is expected whether he has a hand or not but I thought he might be bluffing. What do you do?

what about the flush? This would just be the way someone with the flush would play it.

Im not a shorthanded expert by any means, but it seems to me that the game was playing more like a tourney. Alot more bluffing you didnt need as big a hand to win. Because of that, Im willing to call that bet with a str8 even with the flush staring at me.

On a side side note... I was really unhappy with my play (in the game.. not this hand). just thought I would mention that.

you played one hand and sat down shortstacked on a table that was playing a little manaical at times, its too short to say you are disappointed. Pretty much every had gone through at least one buy in at one point. Not me though :D

No, I lost a buy-in prior to that. I was up a bit, then got too agressive.

I didnt lose anything, but mainly because Palman doubled me up right off the bat when I flopped the nut flush and played possum.

I did lose it back to him with a horrible bluff later. NEVER BLUFF A CALLING STATION!...LOL. He did make a great call. I shouldnt have tried it.
