Not exactly emmasdad.

A Terry stop refers to the officers right to frisk someone for officer safety once theyve been lawfully detained. Before you can detain someone you have to have a valid reason for contact. You need probable cause to believe something suspicious or illegal is occurring or is about to occur. Its not legal for me to see Joe Blow walking down the street and for me to jump out and frisk search him.

I would have no problem at this point in my career in convincing a judge that I had probable cause, but this was my 2nd day on the street and I had no idea how to handle the cross examination.

Basically the defense attorney grilled me about what was so suspicious about a group of black males with nice cars and I couldnt explain myself well enough because I was a rookie.

In my opinion once I told the guy to stop and he refused, he was under arrest for evading arrest, but the judge didnt believe that I had any reason to even contact the guy to tell him to stop. An officer cant just walk up to a random person and tell them not to move. Now, most experienced officers could do that and get away with it because they would be able to come up with a valid reason to stop just about anyone, but thats not the point.

Monk, can we start off with height before we move on to non-physical traits?

3 questions

1. Do you agree the average black male is taller than the average asian?

2. Do you believe being tall brings with it certain advantages and disadvantages?

3. Wouldn't this make blacks naturally better at some things and asians naturally better at other things?

I just want to make sure you agree with this before I even try to touch non-physical traits, as I completely agree they're much more complicated and not nearly as well understood, making proving or disproving one point or another almost impossible.

If you're gonna write a really long explanation, please just answer yes or no to the questions and then explain your reasoning.

And one last thing. Lets say it isn't more useful for one particular group to evolve increased mental capibilities (I'm not really knowledgable on the subject but as of right now if I had to take a stance I'd agree with that).

But in less harsh environments like Europe, it might be possible to survive if you're very strong mentally but weak physically. In Africa, this might not be the case. So for that reason a certain traits could be stressed or picked out over others.

*I do not have evidence or a source for this I'm just throwing the idea out there.

Oh, and out of interest, there's considered to be little or no difference genetically between populations of humans in terms of height. There IS a genetic component to height but apparently, whilst there's a lot of individual-to-individual variation, there isn't much between different ethnic groups (there obviously IS truth to this idea in very small groups, e.g. some african tribes are abnormally tall or short on average, but they likely have a very small genepool shared among the group, whereas an entire race, like "black" or "white" will be genetically far, far more diverse).

You'll notice that most oriental folks in the USA under the age of 40 (i.e. who've most likely been born and lived there all their lives) are basically the same height on average as black people and caucasians. Walk into your local high school/college and you'll notice that the kids of different racial groups don't especially fall into any obvious patterns in terms of height. Poor health/diet tends to be a major factor in terms of the average height in a POPULATION - for example, average height in North Korea is much lower than that in South Korea, because diet and health is much worse.
