crime rates peaked around the 70s when attacks on officers were at their worst, and groups like the black panthers received some political protection due to racial issues.

Also, the economy have been booming since the 70s days of inflation, double digit interest rates, and low growth which has helped reduce crime.

My sample size is too small? Uhm... how would I obtain a larger sample size here than from the FBI?

What's your point? There's many factors that have led to a reduction in crime. Ice is arguing concern with racial profiling is a major factor for our supposedly increasing crime rates the past few years. That argument is quickly shot down because crime rates have not been increasing.
