US population is just over 300,000,000, or about 11.5 times as large.
So, for scale, 11.5 * 655,000 = 7,532,500.
Say 7.5 million, roundest of numbers. That's the equivalent death toll in the US, as a percentage of the population.
God, it's hard to even wrap your mind around that scale of death and mayhem.
