Another big number ... 655,000

Again, I'm sort of a news junkie. But I had no idea things were this bad in Iraq.

www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/a ... 01442.html

655,000 dead, on an initial population of 26,074,906 (July 2005 est.) (per Wikipedia)

US population is just over 300,000,000, or about 11.5 times as large.

So, for scale, 11.5 * 655,000 = 7,532,500.

Say 7.5 million, roundest of numbers. That's the equivalent death toll in the US, as a percentage of the population.

God, it's hard to even wrap your mind around that scale of death and mayhem.

not saying 655,000 isn't a big number but i don't think you can just scale it up.

for example, say there is a couple and 1 of them dies. of the population 2, 1/2 died. Scale that to 300,000,000 of the US population and 150,000,000 died. surely an extreme example but still, i think scaling it like that skews it.

Saddam cost the Iraqi people 100K lives in 20 years. Wacko Bush decides he needs control of the oil and he is going to "set Iraq free of all the evil and oppression" by killing 650K in a couple years. The US people reelect the guy responsible for allthis nonsense . ..and Bin Laden is the wacko ruthless terrorist. Think twice. Think hard.

I am much more afraid of your white house than Al Qaeda. Seriously. And I question more their (WH) motives. I dont want to think ofwhat I would become, if the US gives all the military power to say Haiti and in the middleof everything my mother, wife and two sons are killed. Would I become a terrorist? Would all goto hell and I'd find the patriotic meaning of doing very bad things against the people responsible ? Now think that is you and post your ansewer after imagining you are in that spot.

I strongly believe US schools should be teaching DannielGoleman. Emotianal Intelligence. Emphathy. That is the key. The decision you take in November every 4 years ecoes in the rest of the world in a manner most of the US people simply dont realize.

650K deaths reads awful. Imagine what it would be to live in that place?

How many of those 650K were terrorist? HOw many of the remaining 25million are potential terrosrist NOW? Probably 23milllons.
