Johnny remembers where he was when he heard Joan of Arc had been burnt at the stake :P

This was right after college and before law school, and i was livin back at the ole family homestead on the beach in ventura, CA. The interesting thing about the MK family homestead is that neither of my parents lives there, so i guess livin there was sorta tite.

Like any red blooded american degenerate i was asleep when the whole thing happened, recovering from the night before. My phone rings and its my mom and she says 'Hey Ohm (my stupid nickname based on my middle name), just to let you know, were at war.'

Im like RLY? And shes like terrorists have attacked our country, go watchit on TV. So i went and turned on the TV and was like 'well, hells bells, how bout that.'

The only person i even knew that lived in NY i knew to be abroad at the time, and didnt know anyone in the towers or anyone close to anyone in the towers. I watched for a bit, and they started repeating the same crap over and over again as they tend to do in big real'time news stories. I am not proud to say that since i didnt know anyone anywhere near that, i looked at it just like any other disaster i see on television. I thought more about my headache than i did about it, and went back to bed.

However, after my initial non-reaction, i very much realized the signifigance of the event afterwards, and every drop of raghead blood shed in retribution for those attacks made me feel good. And I felt just as much for civilan casualties of the war on terror as i did when i saw 9/11 on TV for the first time. Probly less. Havin a lump of coal for a heart is a double edged sword, i guess.

Saw it from across the river. I was in study hall at the time during my senior year of HS when my friend who was in an administrator's office said a plane had crashed into the WTC. I sort of laughed it off thinking it was a cessna or something. When I got into my next class and my teacher had a tv on with CNN playing. Saw the second plane make impact and both towers fall live. The rest of the day was filled with loud speaker announcements for various kids to go home. I knew a lot of kids whose parents worked in the tower, but by some grace of God, none of them were hurt (physically anyway... survivor guilt can last a lifetime). Went after school to the scenic overlook to check out the damage. By that point the cloud had meandered a little bit over the river and "the smell" was detectable. Never will forget it. Never affected me emotionally until today either. Weird.
^ No, I didn't limp with that hand.
