Had a great time up north. Stayed with a friend at his familys summer house in a small guest cottage overlooking the sea. First day we settled in, second day we went to see an old friend of my girlfriend who runs an inn. It's an old country estate from the 1700 hundreds. Was treated to some food and coffy, then we went to his place and were treated to some more food and wine. A bit too heavy on the mosquitos outside though.
The day after that we went to a small zoo. It was quite awesome. It focused mainly on monkeys, but had kangaroos, reptiles and stuff as well. What was so good about it was that you were allowed extremely close to the animals. If you wanted to you could just step over the thigh-high wodden fence and try to climb into the kangaroo pouch. The monkeys were incredibly cute, especially the small ones.
In the evening we visited some more friends of my girlfriend (she went to university here), were treated to some desserts and drinks and were bothered by their three children. The day after that we just hung out with my friend, walked around the town, and went home.
So today I sat down to pick up were I started, crushing the PLO8 tables with my elite skillz. Things didn't really work out like that and I was down $60 before I decided to hell with this (for now) I'll try out my brand new "Stoneburgs Supersmart Shortstack System" in NLT and play some LO8 $2/4 on the side. That worked out a lot better and I erased the defecit and replaced it with a small profit. Unfortunately this journal is about the Pot Limit Omaha so instead of bragging about my incredibly clever preflop pushes in Holdem or valuebetting in LO8 I have to present my embarrasing PLO8 losses.... let the horror begin:

I think I played this absolutely awful, but then again, I'm a stinking newbie in this game so what do I know?
Preflop raiser seemed very tight (11 vpip) so I had him firmly on AA. Obviously I think I am ahead on the flop but I really want him to fold. I figure AA2x and A2 should get the hell out when I raise. On the turn I realise I am screwed and check behind hoping to boat up, I don't know how the hell I find the call button on the river.
Probably frustration from losing a 3-way all-in on the flop against a maniac with TPGK and nothing else, and another guy with middle pair and a flush draw. I mis-read my hand in that one, thinking *I* had the nut flush draw to go with my TPTK + nut backdoor low draw. Had my hand been what I thought it was I would have been a huge favorite, as it was it was slightly -EV. The middle guy managed to hit a runner boat with his middle pair and scoop. Now to something less depressing.

This was against the maniac that I was all-in with 3-way in the hand I lost. Honestly... what the HELL can he be calling with that doesn't call that river with those pot odds?! T8?!
I played pretty bad after losing 3 stacks in 5 minutes... or did I lose 3 stacks in 5 minutes because I was playing bad? Probably. Either way, my stats look really crappy and I'm going to have to improve on this. My new goal is to scrape up enough for a two-week vacation somewhere in Europe (for two) by this autumn. Should need about $2k for that so I have my work cut out for me. Obviously need to do better than this:
Game: PLO8
Hands: 615
Vpip: 27.6
Pfr: 3.7
Result: -$60
The lady of the house is working the night shift but I'm tired of poker for now, after 4.5 hours, so I think I'm going to get into bed and watch either "The Running Man" or "Rollerball". That's some quality movies right there.
