If I was Swedish I might be signing up for Stoney's political party now. Not because I'm a huge schmoker any more (though I do enjoy the odd toke), but because the very nature of drugs has changed so much in recent years that I feel a distinction must be made between relatively harmless recreational drugs and more addictive substances.

Some of the super skunk available now is so strong it's hallucinogenic. I'd have to put it in the same category as magic mushrooms or opium ie everyone should try it at least once, but for f[]ck's sake don't overdo it.

If cannabis were legalised it could be controlled in the same way as alcohol (ie who wants poteen when you can have quality whiskey/gin/vodka/absinthe?), and tokers need never come into contact with dealers and their scummy friends.

Of course, there's also an argument for legalising all drugs to the over 18's and letting people choose for themselves, but crack, for example, is so addictive that the individual's ability to make anything that remotely resembles a rational choice is too often horribly impaired.

As Carlin says, "it's nice there's something out there that won't get on your ass." You can't overdose, and it's not addictive for the reason it's not possible to overdose. Greater doses does not produce a bigger effect. Just fewer doses.

But, the War on Drugs must go forth. The federal government still, occasionally, prosecutes someone in California involved with the medical marijuana movement. It's been proven efficacious for some disorders, yet the feds insist it's a menace. Check out the history of cannabis in this country for some of the most misguided silliness a govt. can push off on its people.

In fact, why not just sterilise everyone at birth, and force them to sit an exam at 18 to see if they're fit to become parents. If they pass according to your criteria, the operation is reversed, and what's more IT'S FREE OF CHARGE TOO!

Damn, all those operations sound too expensive, though, you might have to increase taxes to pay for them all. Instead of that, how about just building a few huge gas chambers and shoving in all the work-shy, criminals, drug addicts, prostitutes and pimps? You might be able to squeeze in a few Democrat voters too, as long as you put Republicans in charge of the operation.
