Yep, too much for a player with not alot of upside and turning 32 next year. He might stay consistent for the next six years, which would be impressive, but I think he probably should only earn about 12M a year MAX. There are a few good things going for having Lee though - 1)the short porch in left at the Astro's home park; he'll probably hit a couple more HR's and it will be easier playing defense in left 2)Lee's SO rate decreased this year, so he's putting more balls into play 3)his durability - he's only missed 14 games in the past 4 years, one of them possibly do to the trade last year. For me, that means he is a good bet to put up the numbers you paid for. 4)protection for Berkman - Lee will be able to hit Berkman in for all those times he gets on base which is a ton.

I think it will be a good fit there, even though the Astros still overpaid.

Yeah, that's a sick one. I would take out the Derosa contract and put that one up there if I were able to edit the poll. I would put that one about on par with the GMJr pact, but at least Carlos Lee has been productive for more than 1 season. He should be better, offensively at least, in that ballpark than Matthews will be in LA. What the heck has happened to the market this year? It seemed like it was headed down for a couple of years, like when Vlad got his contract, but this season is ridiculous. Some of the seemingly overpriced contracts signed the past few seasons, like Beltran, are now looking like bargains.
