If the student was ever violent, I can understand any non-lethal force necessary. But there was no indication of him being violent from the video or from the witnesses at the scene.

I actually think the video is pretty inconclusive about whether the use of force was necessary or not, you can't really see what's actually going on most of the time.

Don't you think one of the witnesses would have mentioned the student attacking the officer? Witnesses agreed the student wasn't complying with orders, but that's not reason enough to taser him - like Ice mentioned.
