not really sure who else i know like them. like you said, they're not quite nu-metal, but i don't really consider them hard rock either.

the best i can come up with would be bands like godsmack, afi (their newer stuff, the older stuff, while i like it, is far more teenage punk, their latest few albums are much deeper), green day (dookie was the first album i ever bought, and their newest one, while incredibly pretentious, has a fantastic sound to it).

HIM and Coheed both have those really unique sounds to them.

you might like franz ferdinand. i'm not a particuarlly big fan of them, but they're certainly something different, and worth checking out.


oh, one that you might really like is nightwish. i think they might be another finnish band, but it could be sweedish. or i could be completely wrong. Either way, songs like 'nemo' 'i wish i had an angel' and 'wishmaster' are required if you're looking for an eclectic hard rock compilation. check them out. now.

also, what other types of music are you into? ska? hardcore? punk? emo? oldies? 80's? i got favorites from most genres, so that might be easier to help ya find some new stuff.

their newer album -committment - is a bit too poppy at parts for my tastes, but has some great tracks - committment, hey driver, and medicine and gasoline being my fav's.

but their earlier albums are awesome. you might have some trouble findint them online, but you need to - they're just too good to pass up. they have either 3 or 4 albums total, including the newer one.

Go get those. now. pronto.

glad to hear you like nightwish, don't know many people who have even heard of them.

on that note, how dare you refer to ska as poppy. that's just wrong. i thrive on ska. the hybrid of rock and jazz can be insane. if you like RBF and LTJ, check out some stuff by the aqua bats - they're incredibly goofy but they've got some really fun upbeat songs. suburban legends, similar to the aqua bats, but a little different sound.
also, RX bandits, easily the best of these three groups. songs like status, babylon, and nugget are a must have. Also, if you're into reggae, check out matisyahu. he's unique - king without a crown is his 'hit single', but don't let that fool you, it's actually a really good and really different song. give it a shot, you might like it.

as far as the just normal rock stuff, try placebo - songs like pure morning, ever you every me, protege moi, and taste in men are my fav's. throw in some pepper - tongues, love affair, and give it up, then maybe some mad caddies, kinda a mix between ska and rock, depending on the song (days away, popcorn, and there's something wrong at the playground). Eve 6 is also a good band, one of my all time favorites. the more you listen to them the more you grow on you. i can't really pick a favorite from that them.
