The only way I kill someone to save my family is if that person is endangering my family. If thats the case he isnt random. I dont kill a random person for any reason that I can think of.

Killing a random person would save the world, would you do it then?
How about if it proved the answers to the meaning of life questions? Ie, by pressing this button, you recieved an epiphany about God and whether or not he/she/it is a real entity and which religion (if any) currently in practise is "correct", plus you can somehow prove this knowledge to the rest of the world?
How about if it cured cancer?
If you answer 'no' to all of the above questions, repeat them but instead of it being a random person, it is a convicted murderer and rapist. Would you press it then? Note that it isn't a specific person, but it is a random person out of all convicted rapists/murderers in the world.
