I've personally never used heroin, meth, crack or coke, so I cannot say from experience whether these drugs can be used casually. I've heard heroin isn't nearly as bad as we've all come to believe, but nonetheless, it is one of the most potentially harmful illicit drugs out there. I always tell myself I will never go that far.
Two friends of mine are dealers and I've asked them both, "Is there any drug you wouldn't recommend doing?", they both said heroin. It's "too good a drug". When a drug dealer tells me they will never do heroin again and don't recommend anyone doing it, that's a sign that heroin is pretty damn bad. These guys have guinea pigged every drug out there, but still say "heroin is too much, the rest is fine".
I don't think Northview is encouraging or endorsing usage of heroin. He just is stating many people are misinformed regarding the dangers with heroin usage. While I agree it won't kill everyone who uses it or make them addicted through a couple uses, it still is the most harmful drug out there.
Regarding OP's situation... if you really like the girl, give her a chance. Drug users are not people who need to be punished - they are people who are in need of help. I'm not saying you're the one who should help her, but you will be a good influence on her life since you're drug-free.
