If you were the Governor of Californian, what would you do?

He took a shotgun and killed 4 people, and he founded the crips. If I were gov. he would have been executed years ago. Seriously what the hell took so long?

I moraly opposed to the death penalty to begin with. Other than revenge for the familys there is no real purpose to the death penalty, and yes I did say revenge not justice. It costs more to put someone to death than it does to keep someone alive in jail for 40 years. If the death penalty isnt cruel and unusal punshment than I dont know what is. Taking someone life (despite their crimes) is cruel, and since less than 1% of people that commit death penalty eligable offense's actually are sentanced and executed, that definatly makes it unusual. The death penalty is also one of the most rasict/sexist laws we have. A black/ latino man that commits a death penalty eligable crime is 8 times more like to be sentanced to death than a white man. Men that commit death penalty eligable crimes are 50 times more likely to be sentance to death than woman. Final point, putting someone to death is the most final punishment for their crime When DNA evidence first became available numerous people were exonerated for crimes they were jailed for. Who is to say that in X years we wont come up with new technology that proves these people innocent (Tookie Williams still claims he is innocent). It is kind of hard to say sorry we screwed up when they have already been exectued.

80 proof, they arent talking about letting him free, they are talking about commuting his death sentance, to life in prison without the possibility of parol.

He's a murderer.

He should have been taken out back and shot in the head immediately following the first appeal. The cost of the bullet and cremation fees should have been charged back to his family.

Every single convicted murderer (and rapist and child molestor) should be treated the same, with the sole lenience given in the case of rapists and murderers (not child molestors) who plead guilty - they can be given life with no possibility of parole.

Prisoners with life sentences dont stay in solitary confinement. And the cells arent 8X6.

I am FOR the death penalty, but I could be swayed and be against it if the alternative was worse than death. Right now, alomst everyone would rather get life in prison than the death penalty (personally I wouldnt).

Now if a capital crime came with a punishment of life in solitary confinement with no TV or other entertainment, then Id be fine with it.
