I was thinking... what if you flat out told the dealer "Just so you know, I will be card counting today. Nothing wrong with that though, so let's play!" and then threw down the cash? I mean, a real card counter would never be that stupid, right? So they probably would be less suspicious by your increased bets during high counts and whatnot.

I have a strong feeling this is one of those ideas that only seem great while high.

Honestly, I doubt it would work. Just a harmless idea....

There have been court cases against casinos that banned players for card counting. And the card counters won.

Casinos still try to eliminate card counters through other methods. For instance, the dealer might be told to shuffle the deck whenever you increase your bet. Another thing they might do is try to kick you out on other grounds.

There's a lot of dirty work casinos do to maintain their profits. But card counting is not illegal!

My reference is from pro BJ player Arnold Snyder's book "Blackbelt in Blackjack". He doesn't cite the court cases, but I trust him. Anyone who wants to learn more about the life of a professional BJ player should definitely check out his book. He describes various methods of avoiding heat from pit bosses and all the legal elements involved with card counting, such as if the casino is allowed to confiscate your chips, arrest you, etc. Very interesting read.

Also, he specifically states that laws may vary from state to state, but he knows his information certainly is correct for Nevada. And if you're involved with any legal trouble with casinos because of card counting to contact an attorney and fight your case - card counting is not illegal. There is no cheating involved.
