My missus had trouble getting her pretty llittle head (

) around the idea that you don't have to win every session to be an overall winner - her belief was that a being a winning poker player is only a temporary state, and that going bust is only a matter of time.
I tried to teach her about averages, variance and trends, to no avail, but when I showed her some of kenny's graphs the penny dropped (it also encouraged me to get PokerGrapher working with SQL).
The downside of this is that when I try to gloss over something non-poker related, she'll often retort "but the overall trend is still upwards, I suppose"!
