I want a laptop. I think I want one of those smallish 14 inch ones, something nice and light and portable. Price isn't really an object, but I don't exactly need a cray supercomputer. Basically something that can run pokerstars or partypoker and AIM for when I'm not at home, and will last a while. I'd say I want a DVD player but I imagine that's pretty standard these days so I don't even need to say it. Oh well too late, I just did. Well that's it, suggestions?

Yeah - there isnt a single 14 inch model that runs that kind of resolution. I guess you can just go with a lower resolution - Party will probably get the table resizing issues figured out soon.

Take a look at the IBM T- series. They're somewhat more expensive, but probably worth it. I've also seen a lot of Toshibas that are pretty good. Try and get a Centrino. For normal use, they're pretty good on heat, battery life etc without sacrificing performance.

if you want WUXGA (ultra hi res) you need to for something like a Dell Inspriron 6000.

However if you just want a really sexy small laptop for, say 2 tabling, then the smaller ones in the Sony Vaio series are really nice...

I don't really plan on using this for hardcore quad tabling cash game sessions, just for tournaments here and there.

Well, I have the 9300 from Dell, which is about as anti-portable as a laptop is gonna get... But, the sceen is hella big and sweeeeeeeeet.... I wouldn't recommend THAT for ya, but I would stay with Dell...

The 700m is about the smallest laptop you're gonna find... It weighs about 4 pounds soaking wet, comes w/ a 12" screen (too small IMHO), but can be upgraded to be lightning fast for whatever it is you need...

The 600m is a little bigger, 5 pounds w/ a 14" screen...

Either one, I believe, is the way to go... On any computer you buy, I would upgrade to AT LEAST 512 Mb RAM (I'd put a Gig) and just load that puppy up with all the trimmings, as it's pretty hard to upgrade a laptop usually...

The best thing about Dell is that, right now, they have a deal that if you buy a laptop over $1500, you get $400 off instant, which is pretty sweet for us poor folk, and is like an extra 2 bb for you...

I just got a wireless mouse for $10 the other day, its hella cool and much better than a touchpad or trackpoint.
