In all seriousness, if you do think there is some of 9/11 conspiracy what are you doing trying to join the military? it was a missile that went into the pentagon then I assume it was procured from a complicit armed forces that you now want to join.

And as for travelling the world, well, Iraq, Afganistan and Bosnia are not places I'm itching to see. The few US bases in the UK (Lakenheath and ????) I've not heard very complimentary things about the soldiers within.

What does the Coastguard do? I keep on thinking of Baywatch, but then I also think of gunships combatting smugglers and pirates. If reality is anywhere between these opposites go for it.

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.

Snowman - Firstly, I apologize if any of my good natured ribbing rubbed you the wrong way.... Secondly, NOONE questioned your right to question things you saw. As a young person, I encourage you to question everything, before you have to blindly accept mortages and taxes and all the rest of the other responsibilities that come along with the 30's. Good for you. I was glad to read your previous post. Good luck.

The less than good natured ribbing was reserved for those that do try to push the conspiracy angle. Questioning is fine. Pushing conspiracy theories on people in the face of irrefutable evidence to the contrary, IMHO, is not.

So good luck Snow. FWIW I have a cousin that flies helicopters for the Navy and absolutely loves it. He served 2 tours in Iraq, but was also part of a rescue unit that aided in the aftermath of the Tsunami and also Katrina...

Check out grants, loans, scholarships for college. If you cannot go any other way, join the Navy. I was in the Army. They are not treating the troopers right or good. All these recalls to Iraq are not what the Reservists had planned on. They give someone who owns a business two weeks to leave it all and go to war. They are sending old men and boys kinda like the German Army right at the end of WW2.

I think a four year enlistment is just too big a step unless you wish to make a career of the military or federal service. The four years counts toward retirement. The GI Bill is not enough to live on while you go to college but it is great and can be used up to eight years. I put myself through college playing poker and running a poker game.

I would suggest opening a small rake game near a college. If that doesn't work, you can always join the Navy later. The Navy is not recalling people.

My favorite movie line is from Raising Arizona....."You are young and you have your health. Why do you want a job?"
