KK with an ace on flop

Postby iceman5 » Wed Apr 27, 2005 8:39 pm

$1/$2 NL. Villain has $200, I have him way covered.

Im the BB with KK. The button open raises to $7.39. I have yet to see a "good" player make one of these ridiculous raises. If a player raises a stupid amount like this, hes almost always a moron. This has nothing to do with the hand. I just thought Id point that out.

I reraise to $25 and he calls.

The pot is $51. The flop comes ATx. What do you do?

Im on the fence in this one. I did bet $40 and he called. I check/folded the turn. He said he had AQ and I told him I had 99

He called me a maniac and he paid me off later.

I can see checking here also. The only thing is that the roles were reversed and he checked , I would bet no matter what I have and I can take it away from him.

Of course I wouldnt have AQ in that spot but I could have JJ

I check there....everytime....Calling the reraise has to reinforce the fact he has an A....

If he doesn't have the A, he'll probably be scared too, knowing that you aren't afraid of the reraise as you did it preflop...

I like checking as well, but iceman did post any player info to go off of so in absence of that I like continuing the aggression by betting. His bet is going to have to be pretty weak here for a check-raise to work effectively I think, because this pot is $51 on the flop and even with a semit-weak bet like $25 you are going to have to make it in the neighborhood of $100 to go for an effective get-out-of-my-pot check-raise. I don't know about you guys but but by my math $40 < $100 (by quite a bit).

By the way, what was his bet into the $131 pot on the turn?

Personally, I would have probably bet there too, because I almost always follow up, but the more I think about this type of opponent is rarely going to fold. As hard as it is to do you have to let this guy have it, potentially w/ a bluff.

He doesnt need an ace to call the reraise. Any pair will usually call the reraise.

I had never seen the guy before, hence no read.
