Very interesting....Am I being soft in this situation

Postby AlexMR » Fri Apr 29, 2005 11:41 am

Hi,

I get in that situation more often than the "1 in 7" according to probabilities. In conclusion, what did you do, Ice?

I am a rookie, I just started playing in January and now I am breaking even/ slightly winning. The thing is that, what I am doing in this situation is a check raise at the flop. I see that there are encounter positions with this move. I have to agree that in case he has his A, this would be a very expensive hand because depending on how aggressive the guy is, he might reraise you and then the hand would be over. But lets say he is not so aggressive or that he puts you on a set. He might call anyway,. and if the turn doesnt give u the K, what? bet? Well, it is so hard but it´s KK, I guess you can afford and expensive hand with KK, but I found this so hard, that it might be better to check the turn (after the reraised flop) and if he bets, get out. I think that is what I am doing in the situation.

Am I being soft?

I would like to know the results....Very interesting post!

Oh I forgot, he bet 60 in the river? to a 135 pot? Is either one of two: He might be scared or he might be milking you. That is what i see. In other words, I dont see anything. Still too hard for my knowledge. Correct me please.

I bet $40 on the flop and he called. I checked the turn. He bet somewhere around $60 and I folded.

He told me he had AQ and I believe him because when I told him I had 99 (which I didnt), we got into a discussion about the hand. He called me a maniac (which led to him paying me off on another hand later because he thought I was a maniac)

He said he was a coin flip with me with his AQ vs 99. I said no, he was a 2-1 underdog because hes 2-1 against to flop a pair and he has to fold the flop if he doesnt hit a pair. He agreed. So Im pretty sure he really had AQ.
