I voted for folding as the most important for long term wining. I guess that reading hands and players is necessary to make a good fold so I am not sure how that fits in.

I just know that I lose more money by not folding when I should. That is personal experience and may not represent the group of GOOD players.

agreed with geewhiz. Mental toughness/discipline is the #1 factor. Basic skills are important for the lower limits...but this is the key from going to a losing to a winning player.

I don't see patience or discipline up there. Those have my vote.

How could I forgot about discipline!?

Sorry guys. As I said, post your vote for any other option not listed. I voted for Folding, since it was the difference between losing and winning in my case. Disciline is very related to folding, or folding is related..... well, keep voting!.

I'm surprised the poll is so overwhelmingly for folding. I had thought that leak existed solely in my donkified game.

Glad to know I'm not alone... still gotta fix it.

Thing is, I know when I should fold. I just can't click the fold button. It's EVIL, I tell ya!

this is probably what you mean by folding, but I think patience is the most important aspect. Most players actually understand poker well enough to play break even or at least be a moderate winner if they could continue to play their best all the time. But they can't. They play well 90% of the time and are moderate winners, and then lose a whole lot the other 10% of the time. I don't care how good you are, if you play on tilt even infrequently it will have a huge impact on your overall win rate.
