Should I bet the turn here?

Postby GodlikeRoy » Thu Sep 01, 2005 1:02 am

$50 NL 6-max @ FTP.

I get dealt [Ac] [Th] in the BB. One limper and SB completes, I raise to $2.25. Only the SB calls. The flop comes [4c] [Ts] [9d]. He checks and I fire out a $5 pot sized bet and get cold called. My read on the villian is that he's a solid player and his PT stats support this (34/19/2.3). The turn brings the [3c]. He checks again, do I bet out again? In my case, I checked behind and the river brought the [7h]. He fires out a pot sized bet here and I end up folding. Thoughts anyone? I've only just started playing 6-max (~1000 hands) and this is the only hand i've felt like I did something wrong with. My image at the table was TAG btw.

Thanks :)

If you check the turn I think you should call the river anyway. He could very well have a weaker kicker that he is valuebetting since you checked behind or a busted draw (QJ, 78) or a lower PP... lots of hands that you beat.

The Big Lebowski: Are you employed, sir?
The Dude: Employed?
The Big Lebowski: You don't go out looking for a job dressed like that? On a weekday?
The Dude: Is this a... what day is this?
