Let me say that my definition of "average player" is that hes a break even to slightly losing player. I dont think an avg player needs the nuts to push in here. As a matter of fact, a good player might push in with just about anything because he cant possibly think I have a flush after that big flop check raise.

It looks like Im protecting against the flush.

At the turn, I bet $100. I did it for several reasons

1) I didnt want him to fold since I was 95% sure I was ahead. But I also didnt want to give him good odds to call if he had a high spade. If he does he only has 5 outs, but he probably thinks he has 9.

2) He has much better odds if he has a set, so I want him to pay to try to hit a boat. Hes getting 2.6:1 with 3.7:1 to hit a boat. Hes still getting incorrect odds to call if he has a set (although I dont think he does).

3) I want the pot to be big enough to get it all in on the river. With the $100 bet, if he calls, the pot will be $362 and I have $220 left which wont look like a huge bet considering the pot size.

He called the $100. The river was the [8d] and I pushed in. He called. What do you think he has?

Hmmm...

He min-raises from the button and pots the flop when checked to. He could have anything playable. You check-raise and he calls. Hmmm. I like him for a Jack at this point, or some sort of draw. Perhaps 78? 43?. I think a set plays back at you at this point. Turn [5s], you 2/3 pot it and he calls. This tells me that he is there already or can improve in someway, which likely means [As] [Jx] or 43. Although, a larger flush is possible. River [8d], you're all-in, he calls. Doesn't really change much, although it does make [As] [Jx] a little less likely. Hmmm....I'm going to vote......

43 (but [As] [Jx] and a flush are possible, but less likely).

twelver1232 wins the prize. He had [As][Ah] and played it about as horribly as humanly possible.
