this is a definate leak in my game - extracting the maximum value out of my sets.
200nl on stars. 1/2 blinds.
i have a full stack. my opponent has only been here for a few hands, and i have no read. he has a full stack too..

i'm in the BB with [Qd]. CO raises to $6. Button calls. I call.

$18 pot. 3 way flop.
[4h][7d] - yay. 500 hand session and this is my first set of the day. i lead out for $10. CO calls, button folds.

$38 pot. heads up turn.
- i check. CO bets $10, i raise to $30. CO calls.

$98 pot. heads up river.
- i bet $50. CO calls.

he has aces. i was rather dissapointed in myself for not getting his stack when i saw his hand. I put him on AQ when he smoothed called my bet on the flop, and i expected him to bet something closer to $20 or $25 - which i would have raised to about $60ish.

So how do i get more out of this hand? thanks in advance,

Isn't the problem here that you don't know what he has? I mean, if you can put someone on another strong hand that will call bigger raises then ok. But since you can't, you have to play it like you did in order to get someone with AQ here to call.

Btw, this isn't an answer to your question, just my thoughts on the matter.

Well, I'm not Ice, but something that might help is betting full pot on the flop. If he has AA or KK he's still gonna call/raise but if he missed with AK or has an underpair to the Q you won't get much anyway. Bet pot and pot will be bigger on the turn, where you can go for a bigger checkraise. Or use a weak-lead on the turn, forcing him to raise you. This would only work against aggressive players though.

I think once you lead the flop, I would lead the turn also. When you check raise the turn, youre giving him a reason to check behind, which is what I wouldve done.

So I would either lead the flop and turn...or check/call the flop and check raise the turn.

The pot was pretty good sized though so I dont think you couldve gotten too much more out of him.

i think you played it well.if he raises the flop, which a lot of players will you get to play a big pot.
unfotrunately he didnt cooperate. you cant make someone play a big pot and you dont know what he has.
given all that i think you got fairly good value on the river.
