Sitting around twiddling fingers while an avowed enemy of the West run by an extremist regime about which little is known possibly/probably develops nuclear weapons, is not an option.

On the other hand, military action at this point would be extremely premature, and would only increase anti-West sentiment throughout the rest of the world.

We've painted ourselves into the corner so effectively that there is no way out. There is no real option other than the UN, as cumbersome and beaurocratic as it may be. It might work. It might not.

Prepare to fry. Thanks, George.

If I was an Iranian looking around me, what do I see - Afghanistan and Iraq occupied by the world's biggest nuclear power (approx 6000+ warheads) (who say we are 'evil' and helped Saddam Hussain invade us the last time we were attacked causing massive loss of life), various ex-USSR States (3000 warheads), Pakistan (just acquired nukes in breach of NPT, pointed them at the world's biggest democracy, has not even declared a 'no first use' policy (unlike India) and got rewarded for it), US falling over backwards to accomodate North Korea (who claim to have nukes) and the biggest regional threat to our way of life Israel also with about 200 nukes acquired secretly in breach of NPT.

Hell if I was an Iranian I would for sure want a nuke.

Like I said the real worry isn't a state with nukes - no matter how 'mad' leaders are meant to be no-one is going to embark upon a nuclear exchange - it's nuclear material being made available to Islamic Terrorists that scares the hell out of me....that and the US army posturing about first use of 'mini-nukes' on the battlefield

Israel is by far the most likely regional power to attack Iran - you think Jordan or Egypt are more likely to?

You have to try to get inside the mind of an Iranian...

Israel has shown a propensity for pre-emptive strikes outside their own territory - your leader has also declared that they should never have been given a homeland in the Middle East and should go back to Eurpoe and be put up in Germany if the West feels so guilty about the Holocaust - so they don't really like you much..they are also the strongest supporter of the US (who for reasons previously elaborated you aren't a big fan of)...I'd say knowing they have many illegal nukes, you would feel more comfortable with a few too..
