Well back many many majors ago, well before I chose a major, where at a school with tons of hot woman their are exactly zero in my class's(computer Engineering) I was studying to be a geology major. On a couple of field trips I took I came back with a couple of big bags of cool looking rocks. When I got home my roommatte thought I was was a little weird for bringing home rock. This was the same time that the movie Armageddon and Steve Buschemi's character was a geologist who's nicname was rockhound so Rhound was born, I tacked on the 50 at the end since my first car was a 1989 red mustang 5.0.

"You know who you look like? Ed Norton."

The first time I heard that, 5 years ago, I didn't give it much thought. The second time I heard it, 3 weeks later, I thought "well, that's odd." I've heard it so many times now I've stopped keeping track. Even though I started wearing glasses, I still get it all the time.

Monk, have you seen the movie "Sweet and Lowdown?"

"279" Why does one pin always have to refuse to fall down. That is my high game also. I olny have 3 balls 2 black and one blue the famous blue Rhino. You can tell how long it's been since I was a regular bowler.

I always thought is was Monk because your were celibace. BTW if you ever make it to Texas and want to hear some great Blues! Give me a shout and we'll hit 6th street in Austin.

Rhound you bring home rock nowadays and they lock you up.

They actually gave me that pin. I still have it and once in awhile consider taking it out back and blowing the crap outta it! It waited to stand up on 1st ball in the 10th so had almost whole house watching, I almost cried. It was a solid pocket hit too!

I remember the blue rhino, nice ball. Thats when I was bowling too. My favs are the cuda and the quake but gotta give credit to almost all the hammers. Havent bowled in awhile now so dont know what is currently being used.

My prob w/ ball collecting is that when I found one I liked I would get a second one and drill it "radically" for diff lane conditions. Think I have 15. Just looked and found 12 but think 3 more around here somewhere. lol

And I have p/u a 7-10 split, kinda. During practice I was practicing my 10 pin shot and out of a full rack hit the 10, it bounced up outta the pit and tipped the 7 over.

Kowboy I think i depends on what kind of rock we are talking about. It sounds like Iceman has seen his share of the bad kind in his line of work.

I hit a 7-10 split once too. But it was a pure accident. Yes, I'm that bad at bowling that I can occasionally hit the far right side of the 10 pin on my first ball.

Left me trying to pick up the old 12345689 for the spare. :)

My name is just a play on my name that a kid called me in high school. Basically its the beginning of my first name and end of my last name. Since then, people seem to love to give me nick names and I am known by at least a half dozen of them, including Billy, Duncan, BJ (my initials) and Jobby (my middle initial is also "J" so see if some of the smart people can figure out how that came about  ). It seems that no one actually calls me Brian except my family.

As I said in my introduction, my chosen nickname is a tribute to my grandfather who is now 95 years old. He was a railroad engineer and trained cutting horses as his avocation. He always wore Western clothes and his railroad buddies started calling him Cactus Jack. He was always my hero. (A horse broke his jaw when he was 90.)

No one remembers learning to walk. I don't remember learning to ride.

It's always interesting to see where people come up with their nicknames.

Now here's the great reason for my splendid handle.

Most sites already had someone who had taken my other names :(

Seriously, I tried to use my usual names at poker sites, all were taken. Tried getting email with my old band's name, taken. Tried signing up at UPF with my other names, already taken. Noone's faggity enough to use this one, so I'm safe for now.
