OK, here is a hand from yesterday, is villain bluffing or not?

The table was ultra loose-passive except for villain (LAG). I have about 60 hands on him and have seen him make large raises before but i have also seen him deliver at showdown

Texas Hold'em $0.25-$0.50 NL

Seat 1: Villain
Seat 3: Hero [8c][Qd]

ANTES/BLINDS
Hero posts blind ($0.25), UTG +2 posts blind ($0.25).

PRE-FLOP
8 Callers

FLOP [8h][7h][Qc]
Hero bets $1, 3 folds, MP1 calls $1,
1 folds, MP3 calls $1, Villain bets $2, Hero calls $1, MP1
calls $1, MP3 calls $1.

TURN [2c]
Hero bets $10, MP1 folds, MP3 folds, Villain bets $30, Hero?

Villan has me covered and a call will leave me with about $7. Is he bluffing or not? Please comment and i'll post results later

Why are you betting half the pot with top two and all those possible draws out there? I'd want to overbet if anything, or try and checkraise later. Then you call a minraise giving the other guys even better odds to draw, the minraise was golden for you I would've pumped it to 6 or 7 there.

Thanks for your reply

Yes when i look at it afterwards i see that i at least should have bet the pot to get rid of the draws. I seem to get myself into these situations a lot lately and as you say i can get out of them by beeing more aggressive on the flop...back to training i guess...

By the way i folded and asked the guy what he had and he said 72o. I don't really believe him but it doesn't matter since he won the pot

gotta bet more..protect your hand while building the pot. The only use for this weak lead is to look for a raise and make a big reraise,, but you didn't take that option either :(

On the turn you're only losing to a set...gotta put the money in.

this is a bad fold against a LAG. you have top-2. he could easily have 8-7, a Queen, or some kind of draw. re-raise all-in on the turn for your last $7. and bet more on the flop.

Overbet the flop because you're in a 9 way pot!! ANYTHING can be out there...but you're likely to be best, but maybe not by the time the turn/river comes unless you start betting hard.

with a lag, I agree with kenny that if i lead like that, i need to reraise when it comes back to me. However, I think I would prefer a check raise on the flop and I'm pushing that turn no question against a lag. If he has a set, so be it.
