6-max $100NL @ Prima

i raise UTG w/ black JJ to $4. only the SB calls. he's got $80...i've got $130.

flop: [Qd][5d]
pot size: $9

he leads for $3. i fold right away. without any reads on villain, is this too weak?

Terrible flop for JJ. Without any read on opponents, I fold this as well. Only other option would be to raise him to roughly 9$ or 12$. If he calls or re-raises, i'm done with the hand.

You can of course fold with a clear conscience.

On the other hand... if he has hit K or Q and isn't on a flush draw he surely has to bet more than $3 here in case you are on one...

even if he has hit a made flush unless he has or maybe , he would bet more than 1/3 pot here

now he may have hit both the flop and have the flush draw if he has or he may have the made nut flush, but otherwise I read this a a weak-lead with a diamond flush draw and probably just call it down to see if he slows down or bets weak again on the turn. If the turn is diamond free and he slows down or still just bets 1/3 pot - I'm not sure he has made flush and may well bet back at him then.

Contrariwise if the diamond comes and he slows down I might be tempted to bet back at him and rep the flush myself..

As I said you probably should just lay down but if you like a high variance game there might still be some play in the hand...

I don't like a raise to 'find out where you stand' as a call still doesn't define his hand and just escalates the pot..

I had a hand where I had QQ and the board was 2 flush and a King. The BB was first and he bet 1/3 of teh pot - he was on a flush draw.

A call here for 3:1 odds might be okay or a fold. If you call and no more and he checks then go for a cheap showdown.

here's the thing: just because he SHOULD bet more than $3 if he's betting with a King or a Queen doesn't mean he WILL bet more than $3 with a King or a Queen.

he's either a weak player with a King or a Queen, or he's betting the or , or he has a made flush. either way....i dont know enough about him to know which of those it is, or which ones he'll lay down. and i can't think of any turn cards that will allow me to confidently take control of the hand.

Alex- i am in the process of moving up to NL$100. i go back and forth between the $100's and the $50's. it depends on how good the games are. i have about 25 buy-in's for the $100's....and im starting to suffer from Fancy Play Syndrome more and more often because the $50 just doesnt seem like a terribly significant sum of money anymore. the $100's help keep me grounded a bit, i think. the full ring games are full of relatively tough, solid players. the 6-max are full of calling stations, and "tricky" players who never build a big pot with their big hands. despite my recent bad run....making the move to 6-max is the best thing i've done for my game in a while.

Easy fold...worst possible flop for you. You don't even know if the Jd helps or hurts you; and if you don't know what card you want/don't want to see, then you have to fold.
