How about making a value bet with a monster hoping he raises you

And when you have a pretty strong hand, but not unbeatable, you overbet the river so he cant raise you (at least he knows he has no folding equity so if he raises its not a bluff)

I know how to beat this guy. Very easy. Just wait for two pair, etc.

I was thinking about BEING that guy. I wonder if he's +EV.

Losses--when someoen figures you out or has a made hand they can't let go of.

Gains--Action on all made hands, making TPTK fold, being allowed a cheap river when you are weak, knowing exactly what they are firing at you with. ETC.

Aaah, who am I kidding, I could never play that way. Just curious.

Hey TR,

You can definitely play that way. Just move down 2 levels or so and try it.

I was clearing a bonus at Party early in October. I had just moved to $100 NL at Bodog and was clearing the bonus at the $50 tables at Party, but I got pissed from a couple of bad beats and moved down to $25 to finish clearing it.

At $25 NL, in order to get the pot to the $1.00 needed to be raked, there needs to be at least 4 people to the flop, or else a bet has to be called postflop, or else someone has to raise preflop and get called. I was tired of playing and just wanted to finish clearing the bonus. So what I started doing was, if it was limped to me, I minraised preflop EVERY SINGLE HAND.

And it worked. Everybody was playing tight already because it was bonus time, and now they tightened up again because there was a "maniac" playing with them. I would follow up with a bet and get a fold most of the time. If not I would get them to fold the turn. And occasionally I would pick up a real hand and hurt somebody.

And the thing was, I didn't care because it was just 25 bucks anyway.

It was the most fun I've had playing poker in ages. :D

Anyway, long story short -- if you think of a crazy way of playing and want to try it, move down and try it.
