Since he's loose, he doesn't necessarily have a king. He could call here with a lower pocket pair than 8s, a flush draw, or a-high even. I've seen it all. I figure in most cases, he'd just fold here, but even when he calls I'm not in terrible shape.

I think you have to take the chance here, no matter your read on the CO. He's pretty low on chips, too, so he's going to have a hard time calling you. My guess is that if he has a K or a pocket pair, he would have raised preflop. So I think the only way he has you beat now is with a stronger 8 (unlikely). And chances are too slim for him to have a flush draw for you to be wary of it.

I like it. You can't consider a preflop push for a second with that trash hand but when you flop middle pair and push you're putting the CO to the tough decision. I think you'll win this more often than not and is definitely a +EV move. If he does have the K in his hand, so be it and there's another STT about to start up with your name on it

The only option would be to check/call and you'd prefer hands with two overcards to fold so pushing is definetely the best move. I would expect to be called by any pair, and probably A high, because I would call with that if I was him, but then again I wouldn't be dumb enough to open-limp like that.

The best candidate for a push here is villain could fold hands like 99-QQ if he really beleives you hold a K.
