Who needs continuation bets!

Postby mecha » Tue Nov 08, 2005 12:11 am

This particular Villan has been folding to me in the EP wihtout even having to make a continuation bet. It's true that I usually do make cont. bets after preflop raises and he obviously follows my game quite attentively. Have you seen anyone do this before? Is there a point to what this guy is doing? Is he trying to make me aware that he knows that I like to bet out on the flop so that I stop?

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (6 handed)

Hero ($208.80)
CO ($243.35)
Button ($197.95)
SB ($76.25)
BB ($192)
UTG ($205.30)

Preflop: Hero is MP with [Th], [As].
1 fold, Hero raises to $7, 3 folds, BB calls $5.

Flop: ($15) [8s], [Qh], [5s] (2 players)
BB folds.

Final Pot: $15

Just thank him for his willing contribution and do it again the next hand.

I don't see any point to it unless it's to just give his money away. I'd just keep doing it until he fights back. Who cares what he's trying to make you aware of. If he wants to make you aware of something he should reraise you. :D
