Outrageous SnG suckout....

Postby Felonius_Monk » Thu Jan 20, 2005 4:23 am

Check this one out...

$30 SnG at Stars yesterday. I've been playing well but catching few cards. Down to 4 handed, and I'm on my way to being bubble boy (as per usual :D) with about 600 chips and blinds at 200/100. The BB comes round and it's time to make a stand. Alas, I get 93o  .

SB, who is next smallest stack with about 1400, just calls. I decide I'll take a look at the flop and perhaps save 400 for a last ditch tilt next hand on any two if it comes something like AQT. Flop brings Kh 2s 5s. Looks kinda innocuous, when he checks to me I have to bet and try to steal it. I move in, he calls with Ks Ts. Oh dear, I seem to be 97% underdog  .

Turn brings a 6h, river 4d and I make my runner runner straight without a spade hitting the board and double up. The unlucky SB (though he was a poor player who'd hit some outrageous hands of his own earlier) busted out about 4 hands later!

I do very well at the Stars SnGs but seem to see more incredible outshots here than anywhere else. Perhaps online poker is rigged, but it seems to quite often be in my favour here :). The best hand when the money goes in seems to get drawn out on with monotonous regularity in the Stars games I play.... Of course I'm only joking but this month it has been pretty fun to take part in some of these crazy hands :).

As it goes, later on I ran out of luck. Three handed I'd got up to chip leader as my QTo held up against AK, but then suffered a twist of fate of my own when I re-raised the 2nd place in chips with 66 from the BB; he called (why, exactly????) with A4o and cracked it with an ace on the river; a few hands later I should've finished second as the same player got all in with QQ against ANOTHER A4o, only for another ace to hit the river, and then the trio of ace hands did me in as KK went down in flames on a 339 flop. My opponent's hand? A3o.

This sure is a fun game :)

I've always said that the random generator at star's needs some work...but alas...no one ever listens to me!

I mean how else can you explain my BTP victory ? :)

It was supposed to be, but I didn't get the brown envelope stuffed with cash to the right person on time.

Ice was supposed to get AA or KK or AK every 10 hands, dammit. ;-)

Now that you mention it, Kenny and I were the shortstacks early on at our table. Our play was definitely the fishiest :)

Thankfully I've managed to apply the old "omaha rigg" for the next BTP tourney, whereby I get 4 cards and you guys all get two. Only fair given that I'm the omaha moderator I think  . I'll still contrive to lose it somehow

Yeah the manilla envelope is in the post tetsuo, I promise!
