so hard to get paid off OOP

Postby Stelvask » Fri Oct 21, 2005 10:48 am

So i've been experimenting with playing a little looser preflop, and i got this hand. my only real read going into it is that UTG is LAGgy.

I'd like to mention that i know my play is pretty sub par here, but at the same time... they did give me pretty odds.

As a side note, while i hate smooth calling on the flop and turn, since the risk of getting reraised was there, i had UTG pegged on a draw/weak, since i had seen him betting solidly with a set a few hands earlier, and felt willing to gamble in the middle of the raises believing that he wouldn't reraise.

That all being said, being OOP sucks here.

WOW!!
I was thinking the same Bri---I'm pretty sure I get a raise in there as the button...

Regarding the overall play---I try this play every once in awhile, but it is really uncomfortable for me...Seems like when I hit, I don't get paid enough to make the gamble worthwhile, but Stel is a better player, and at bigger games than I am used to...

either way---nice pot and NIHAN!!

briacheck, that was my first reaction when i saw the HH. i couldn't believe the button didn't raise.

a small fishy part of me wanted to check raise the river, until i realized that that was one of the worst ideas i'd ever had.

but jesus, i have position there, and i win a $1200+ pot.
