2 Hands: Too weak-tight and too aggressive?

Postby MHFlush » Fri Oct 21, 2005 6:54 am

a) KK in LP. One raiser in front of me, I raise 3x his amount, he called in EP (full stack). Flop 852, he leaded for 5 dollars (1/2 Pot) I thought for a while and just called. Turn Q. Bad card. He went all-in for 25 dollars. I folded. What could he have with which he called a reraise preflop and play so aggressively after the flop? AA-QQ I guess. Against AA and QQ I am dead. Fold okay? Flop play too passive?

b) 55 in EP, I limp, one raiser (4xBB), one caller, I call, too. all close to full stacks. Flop 965 rainbow. I bet pot, raiser raised 2.5 times my amount, other caller folded, I reraise the a little bit more than the double amount (set me all-in) and he called. He had QQ and lost a huge pot. Flop Rereraise too aggressive? A good player may have folded. I am not sure.

I like your play of the set.

If you're going to re-raise KK and get a flat call, then on that kind of board, you definitely need to slam the flop. It's all a question of who has a higher big pair at that point, and yours is quite good. I think I'd make it $25 on the flop. AA is re-raising all-in. QQ is hoping for a miracle if he still calls (which he probably will).

1) The only really thing i can see to do different is to raise the flop. I would have made it $15 ir $20 after his lead. Then if he moves in decide what to do based on reads. I would still have a hard time laying KK down on that flop to an ALL-IN after a PFR. But after the Q falls on the turn and he pushes I am outty.

2) I like how u played it as well. He is obvioulsy on an overpair. The only thing you could have done was wait untill the turn and put him in. However it worked out perfectly and i probably would have done the same. But with a tighter or better player you can maybe wait to c/r the turn.
