AA UTG not sure?

Postby AlamdeaMike » Mon Oct 17, 2005 12:54 pm

I decided to limp with AA and see what happened which I almost never do. I had the $2 raise ready to go and changed my mind.

It was a bad move since I got more action that I bargained for. I was not looking to play a big pot with overcards so I just called his $4 raise.

I figured that the 2 on the Turn helped me if he had Top Two.

AlamedaMike calls $0.50, 3 folds, 1 checks, 1 folds, AA Killer calls $0.50, 1 checks

*** FLOP *** [2d] [9c] [Th]

wolfnipplechips checks, AlamedaMike bets $2, BTP and take it down now

Ronnoc folds

AA Killer raises to $6, wolfnipplechips calls $6, AlamedaMike calls $4

*** TURN *** [2s]

wolfnipplechips checks, AlamedaMike checks, AA Killer bets $33.40, and is all in, wolfnipplechips folds

Heck, I did not want to play a big pot. Now what? That is what I get for limping in.

Recommendations on what to do now - he's waiting for me to act.

I fold after wolfnipple calls the reraise. You wont' beat both of them. At least one has a set or two pair.

If you limp with AA and no one raised giving you the opportunity to reraise, then play it exactly like TPTK.

If you had AT in your hand you probably wouldn't have had a tough time folding. Same with AA

You are so right Tim - Why I will never limp with AA again is that I called.

He showed [Qs] [Ts] what a LAG - boy did I get lucky and learn a lesson.

Do not limp with AA. Period.

BTW - a few months ago.

I limped with AA on a NL200 game and did muck when the BB went all in on the Trun -

he checked the flop and called a pot size bet and went all in on the Turn when the 4 hit.

the board was Q754 rainbow - I figured he had 74 and he showed.

Limping in early is a great play, if you have strong reason to believe you will be playing a raised pot. Start tracking the preflop aggression level, even min raises count as they reopen the betting in helping you better decide when to attempt a limp reraise. If you can't play a limped pot about 70% of the time give the limp reraise a go.

I got lucky and I am going to raise with AA from now on unless the aggression level is high like you said.

Thanks
