Whats the best play here??

Postby Zuccala » Sat Oct 15, 2005 9:15 am

I have JJ in LP, and 4 limpers to me so i limp along.

Now the flop comes [4c][6c][Jc] pot size :$2.40

Everybody checks to me and I bet the pot, then a short stack calls in EP

pot:$7.20 turn comes [Qd] and I put him in for his last $8.00

pot $23.20

river is a [Td]

He turns over [Kc][Qc]

Was there a better course of action for me? Should I have checked the turn after he called the fllop? I am starting to think so?WWYD? I just did not want to let him draw to a flush for free.

Thanks

Is this on $50 tables? There's not a lot you can do here post flop against a short stack with a monster, you're going to lose.
One thing I would do though is raise it up PF. With 4 limpers I usually go to 7 or 8 BB which might be enough to dump out KQs depending on the player

Why aren't you raising JJ in LP??? If there are many limpers raise to 4-8x the BB and protect your hand. If they all fold there's still a decent bunch of money on the table. You want to have this hands heads up in LP.

on second thought i agree with kenny about preflop. As for you postflop play, nothing you can do. This guy would probably call a raise with KQs anyway so you might not avoid this.

As usual I agree with Kenny. There are certain times where I limp with JJ also but with 3 limpers in the pot already this should be a raise 100% of the time. After that if this guy calls your raise and you see this flop, the money is going in, more times than not he will have a big flush draw and not the made flush.
