Push this river?

Postby Magz » Sat Oct 15, 2005 8:46 am

I'm actually trying out 6 max now ( propably since nothing else is working) and finding to my surprise that it actually might suit me better than full ring, anyways:

I have totally been herassing this table since I sat down just recently and had some luck to go with that, people started not to belive me and started to call me more

So the question here is, would you push here hoping for a call or value bet?
(I have a feeling I'm leaving a lot of money on the tables not pushing afraid they wont call)

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 5 handed)

Hero ($92.85)
Button ($55.15)
SB ($63.60)
BB ($43.75)
UTG ($50.75)

Preflop: Hero is MP with [Jh], [Th]. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
UTG raises to $1, Hero calls $1, Button calls $1, 1 fold, BB calls $0.50.

Flop: ($4.25) [5d], [2h], [Ts] (4 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $4, Button calls $4, BB folds, UTG folds.

Turn: ($12.25) [Jc] (2 players)
Hero bets $7, Button calls $7.

River: ($26.25) [3h] (2 players)
Hero bets $10, Button calls $10.

Final Pot: $46.25

Results in white below:
Hero has Jh Th (two pair, jacks and tens).
Button has Td Ad (one pair, tens).
Outcome: Hero wins $46.25.

I think a push may be a lilttle excessive?? I am not sure. But i would make my value bet a little bigger. Something like 1/2 pot to 2/3. I think that may have been the best way to extract value.

I should perhaps add that I am 98% certain that I have the best hand

Yeah I think a push would be too strong. If you pushed here, I imagine a hand like AT would fold.

I have no problems with a push here given you feel 98% sure you have the best hand.

On party, I like to push alot but its usually when I have the nuts. Sure they might fold and you lose a value bet, but in my experience you get more than enough callers to make up for the losses in value bets.
