Anyone else experienced a losing streak of 10k hands?

Postby Proverbs2822 » Mon Oct 10, 2005 2:32 pm

Sunday I quit playing after feeling tilt setting in. It was my first negative week since July (yes, i keep records, not just estimating). However, this was an insanely negative week and I played 9,362 hands! I lost 3.82 big blinds per 100 hands. My average week is 7k to 10k hands in case you are wondering if I went chasing.

I compared everything in PT and the ONLY thing that stood out was the win rate on Aces which was 71.83% when my overall average is 82.25%. And while the difference in the net win on the aces accounted for most of the loss, everything seemed down: AK, KK, QQ, etc.

My VP$IP, WtSD%, W$@Sd were all within normals.

I guess I'm really just hoping someone will tell me that this can and does happen. Right now, I'm afraid to play. I'm afraid that I have lost some skill or something.

There is a part in "Zen and the art of poker" about including failure in the system. Trying to get the hang of that. Don't think I've had a 10k hands losing streakm at least not in the last year. It does seem like you've just been running cold and since you're already checking for leaks I guess that advice would be superflous.

Dad results tend to lead to a bad mood and frustration, which WILL influence your game unless you're a robot. Unless you need to win money to survive I would recommend taking a few days to a wekk off, doing something you like. Even though it is a bit unscientific you can think of it as not being at the table while you're running bad, when you come back it should have passed.

If you had a 10k break-even streak, I'm pretty sure that would translate to a losing streak for me. Since it was only 3.82 (true bb rate), that may be our difference in skill level, if I'm not being a little arrogant  So i guess it is possible, thanks.

Although spending the day reading sites and considering the new party poker situation and reflecting on last week's play, I've definitely identified some hands I lost too much because of frustration, but I guess that goes along with any losing streak.
