Postby ua1176 » Sun Oct 09, 2005 12:31 am

$50NL @ Prima

i just sat down. first hand in BB. i get [As] [Ks]. UTG posts a sit-in blind and checks. UTG+1 limps. UTG+2 limps. MP3 lmps. SB raises to $2.50. never played against him before...so i call. UTG+2 calls. we all have approximately full stacks.

flop: [Ad] [8s] [2c]
pot size: $9

SB checks. i bet $6. UTG+2 folds. SB thinks and calls.

turn: [9d]
pot size: $21

SB bets $10. hero ????

Call. Would a normal person raise from the blinds with 88, 99, A9 or A8? I don't think so. Could he have AA? Sure but this is a really strange line to take with AA since the 9 should be a non issue to him. Chances he does it with AQ, AJ or AK also is enough to keep going. The river will be interesting but I probably just call because he's an unknown. I know you shouldn't go all in with TPTK but its hard to see him having a set other than AA and that seems really strange. Let him bluff off his money.

Raising all in is another option but that may scare away AQ and AJ that will give you more money on the river.

I'm all in on that turn. He'll call with AQ, probably also AJ.

If you had a read as LAG, flat calling might be fun, then raise all-in when he bets the river (obviously also call all-in).

I don't see that he doesn't have AA. He pfr's and then checks when the A comes? That reeks to me of AA. The only other option is AK...but I think AA is a REAL possibility.

feels like an AQ feeler bet...i really think AK is boss here. eh, i would just call it though b/c there aren't any plausible draws out. w/out a read, i tend to just take the conservative route. if he bets the river small (say less than 1/3 pot), put in a raise to something worthwhile.

I agree and I think I call, but if he gets pushy on the river, I can get away from it if it's more than pot.

well. i didnt think he has AA. i think he has AQ or AJ or AT and raised preflop more or less because no one else did. usually the guys who dont lead with their set of Aces either check-raise the flop or check/call the flop and lead out very small on the turn. he led out for 1/2 pot which is big enough for me to fold if i dont have a strong ace. so i thought i was ahead. i've also been tilting a bit lately because of relationship issues in real life.....so instead of doing the obvious call on the *TURN* i pushed. he thought and he called w/ AQ. i doubled up.

edit: "obvious call on the flop" should of course read "obvious call on the turn"

Thats why you dont push...so he wont fold AQ. But if hes bad enough to call with AQ, then obviously a push is good. I thought he had AQ / AJ also, but wouldnt want him to fold which is why I said to call him down.
