Talked myself into misplaying the river with my boat

Postby Stoneburg » Sat Oct 01, 2005 5:31 pm

I'm posting a lot of hands from todays session because I haven't played in a while due to being occupied with Battlefield 2 and Morrowind... computergames are massively -EV for sure. I felt a bit (read: very) rusty and felt I made a bunch of mistakes so I could sure use some analysis and help.

- MrKarlberg sitting in seat 2 with $28.10
- Nexo sitting in seat 4 with $53.45
- Rolandomagic sitting in seat 5 with $49.25
- Tobmank sitting in seat 6 with $23.25
- lase6969 sitting in seat 7 with $50.00
- Adhemar sitting in seat 9 with $49.00 [Dealer]
- pesas sitting in seat 10 with $22.52

** Dealing the flop: [Kd] [Th] [Tc]

Stoneburg checked
Nexo checked
Adhemar bet - $0.50
pesas folded
Stoneburg raised - $2.50
Nexo folded
Adhemar called - $2.50

Stoneburg bet - $6.00
Adhemar raised - $12.00
Stoneburg called - $12.00

** Dealing the river: [3c]
Stoneburg checked

I played this river horribly didn't I (planned to check/call)? All the hands that beats me will bet but a few second best hands that will call won't bet... right? I was of course worried about the KT. Once again I had NO read on the opponent.

eh, i wouldn't worry about it that much. he's going to bet this river a lot, in which case you can raise. in that scenario, you might get paid off bigger than if you'd bet out.

why didn't you pop him back on the turn? that seems like the best spot.

I dodn't pop him on the turn because I have a "mini-raise-on-turn" phobia

Miniraise = Monster you know.

I was playing way too weak/tight in hindsight, not just this hand but two other hands I posted as well where I folded trips. Only KK (unlikely) and KT/T7 (ok, more likely) beat me here... I guiess I *should* be willing to play for my stack since I'll stack Tx all the time and maybe Kx or AA against a muppet. But when he miniraised me on the turn I just though "shit, he' got the nuts..."

He checked behind with JT to my big surprise (guess he's not a total muppet).

It's unlucky to be superstitious
