8-tables vs 4-tables

Postby shobute » Tue Sep 27, 2005 1:40 pm

Hi all,

So I'm reaching a point where I see two paths for developing my game.

1) I can continue 4-tabling 1/2 with the intent of moving to 4-tables of 2/4 and beyond.

2) I can try 8-tabling .5/1 with the intent of moving to 8-tables of 1/2 which is likely the end of the road for 8 tables. Perhaps 2/4.

My winrate at .5/1 was good and my current 1/2 winrate is decent, but with only 8000 hands. I'm still adapting to the larger bet sizes.

The goal is to maximize my profits.
But I do not want to sacrifice my development as a player.
Of course it is debatable if I could play 8 tables without burning out, but I'm willing to try if I think that path is best.

What do you think?
If 8-tables cannot progress past 1/2 will the profits there compare to however many tables I can eventually play at 2/4, 4/8, 5/10, and 10/20?

8 tables? That doesn't leave much time for creativity. Don't you find the play robotic?

I ask that because you're talking about developing as a player. Maybe it's just my capacity, but I find that I barely pick up on things / improve my skills with 3-4 tables. You'll need time to consider hands, reads, betting patterns, and the like if you're to improve...

I don't see how one can possibly do that on 8 tables.

At that point why not download and program a poker bot. I would imagine it is not too difficult to write a set-mining AI.
