2/4 NL

Opponent has $400... I have him covered. He's hasn't done anything stupid or crazy yet.

Dealt [5s][6d] in the BB.

PREFLOP
2 MP players call. SB completes and I check.

FLOP$16 (4 handed)
[Td][4h][9s]

Checks around.

TURN$
[Td][4h][9s][3c]

I'm openended.

SB bets $15. I raise to $40. Everyone folds and I win uncontested.

This is why I hardly ever call. If he calls this raise:
1. I'm building the pot for my draw
2. my hand is disguised.
3. Someone behind me will possibly fold a good hand to a bet and a raise.

Opponents hardly ever reraise..and if they do..half the time they only mini raise, giving me great odds and a chance to take their stack on the river (since I'm disgused.).

Of course, plays like this are a hella more effective if you're playing 1/2NL or above.

Well done. I like the 3x amount of the raise. I do not understand why the SB leads against 3 opponents and then folds but this is another story.

Nice tip Kenny!

It's something I should know but I only ever minraise here.
For some reason in the last 2 weeks since moving to 1/2 I've picked up that nasty habit of minraising when I'm raising postflop.

By the way: I for one think you and Ice should do a little ditty on good 1/2 plays seeing as how you're moving onto greener pastures.

Yeah I go with Kent's observation. I do that play a lot myself.
