How do you guys play 2 overcards?

Postby Magz » Sun Sep 25, 2005 4:58 am

Say you play 0.50 and you limp UTG with AQ, 2 more callers and the flop is all rags so
you check and someone behind you bets minimum like 0.50 into a 1.75-2$ pot.

Do you call the minimum here? Can it be +EV? I pretty much always fold here, but is that wrong??

Comments on this would be very interesting and appreciated

Oh, and lets say that you play SC in a unraised pot and hit middle or low par, you know that the guy has hit something better do you call a minimum bet here hoping to get lucky?

I very rarely call any bet. As TJ Cloutier says, " Don't call a bet unless you're setting a man up for a later street."

A raise in these sitautions mightbe profitable... a call is not.

When I play Sc's in a hand I am looking for a made stright or fulsh, striaght draw, a Flush Draw, trips or 2 pair. If i do hit a pair (most likley bottom) I throw away the hand for a bet. Unless I have some backdoor draws to go along with it. Then I may take one off and see what devlops on the turn.

With 2 overcards I rarely keep going with it. Depending on what level u are playing ur overcards may not even be clean outs. Alotof the time some jackass is playing K9,Q9, or most likley Axo and your overcard is one of his outs as well. However, if the pot is paying me like 10-1 or more I may call on turn and river if I an do so cheaply. But if there is any kind of draws out there i will most likley not proceed for I think it is a waste of time. Hope this helps. What do u think??

Pretty much how I play it myself actually, but I sometimes get the feeling that I throw away the best hand a bit to often and was interested in some thoughts about this.

Thx for your replys
