$200 NL - Easy Push?

Postby APerfect10 » Sun Sep 25, 2005 8:02 pm

Villian is well known. He plays more hands than me  I think he's the only one in the entire world that does that ;) Anyways, he's not a good player, despite playing all the time. He is 10/1/2.3 but I would consider him a rock rather than a tag. His aggression frequency is around 33% which is very low. Over the past 25k hands he's down almost $900. This guy is a straight forward set miner and makes absolutely no moves.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed)

APerfect10 ($197)
Button ($125.80)
SB ($198)
BB ($204.40)
UTG ($55.80)
UTG+1 ($188.55)
MP1 ($423.85)
MP2 ($284.63)
MP3 ($402.05)

Preflop: APerfect10 is CO with [9c], [Ac]. SB posts a blind of $1.
3 folds, MP2 calls $2, 1 fold, APerfect10 calls $2, 1 fold, SB (poster) completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($8) [7c], [5c], [8h] (4 players)
SB bets $5, BB calls $5, MP2 folds, APerfect10 raises to $15, SB folds, BB calls $10.

Turn: ($43) [Td] (2 players)
BB checks, APerfect10 bets $30, BB raises to $60, APerfect10 calls $150 (All-In), BB calls $120.

River: ($403) [8d] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $403

Bad break or bad push? I'm thinking in this situation, knowing that he's a rock, I should've just called him down and pushed the river if the flush did come. Against every other type of player, I think a push here is correct; however, this is the one case I think I made a mistake. Thoughts?

hmm. i think half the point of raising is to buy the free card. you got it. if he's a straightforward set-miner he'll pay you off on the river at least to a certain extent. check behind on the turn and take the free card.

I don't exactly agree with iceman... I like the raise on teh flop and I like the bet on the turn when you have more outs. This guy is a rock so there's a good chance of him folding to continued aggression on the turn. after the mini raise though, he's obviously got the goods.

Iceman is correct about pretty much 0% folding equity with the reraise. Unless he misclicked, he's not folding. No one is. Call that mini raise and try to bust him on the river.
